For starters, Cuale River is one of the seven rivers that originates in the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains. The Cuale River starts approximately 2,500 meters above sea level then runs through a small mining town called El Cuale. The river continues along a rugged path with deep ravines on its way to Puerto Vallarta where it flows into the Pacific Ocean. 40 kilometers in length, the river empties into the Pacific Ocean in downtown Puerto Vallarta under the Malecon boardwalk bridge that divides the Old Town and El Centro neighborhoods in Puerto Vallarta. There, you can almost always find locals fishing and swimming in the river’s shallow waters. A variety of bird species inhabit the area as well.
